Te Rā Awnings: made for New Zealand.

We scoured the globe in search of the best awning solution for New Zealand. It wasn’t easy, after all, the conditions here aren’t exactly known for being forgiving. Our solution? Te Rā Awnings — the epitome of Swedish design excellence and innovation, optimised specifically for us. Outperforming anything you’ve seen before, and adding value to your home, it doesn’t get much better than this.

Made for New Zealand Conditions.

Aotearoa isn't exactly known for predictable weather. The term ‘four seasons in a day’ isn’t synonymous with ‘kiwidom’ for no reason (Crowded house even wrote a song about it). With that in mind, when it comes to awnings you want something that performs rain, hail, and most importantly, shine. Luxaflex Te Rā Awnings are the solution.

In our search for the ultimate awning, we found a natural affinity between Swedens weather conditions and our own. The result, an awning featuring premium Swedish design optimised specifically for us. So how exactly does it stack up?

Stability and strength.
Folding-arm awnings are usually either held taught by cable or chain. Traditional cables are made from either a plastic polymer (which stretches over time) or chains which, being made from metal, tend to degrade when exposed to the elements, limiting the lifespan and performance of your awning. That’s why in our Te Rā Awnings we use Dyneema-tape that is 15 times stronger than steel! Plus it’s UV, chemical and moisture resistant to provide a durable yet lightweight material that further improves the stability and tension provided by the awning’s heavy-duty springs.

Stringently tested.
The Te Rā Folding-Arm range of Awnings has been engineered to exceed stringent quality standards. The quality of an awning can often be derived by its wind rating, that’s why our entire range benefits from thorough wind performance testing to meet European 13651 wind classification standards.

The fabric of choice.
Dickson® Orchestra marine-grade fabrics are our fabrics of choice when it comes to superior solar protection, guaranteeing excellent, long-term protection against our harsh UV rays, heat, glare and inclement weather.

Woven from 100% solution-dyed SUNACRYL acrylic, these exceptional quality fibres are solution-dyed, which means the colour pigments are incorporated during the actual manufacturing process, not afterwards, like most others. This means the colours stay truer for longer.

Made for Kiwi Living.

From outdoor bbq’s to backyard cricket, when it comes to outdoor living, no one does it better than us. That’s why when we were developing Te Rā Awnings, we put particular emphasis on functionality to facilitate your needs while ensuring a new outdoor area could be created with ease and style. Here’s how:

Customise your coverage.
Perfect for decks, balconies, shops, restaurants and more; five styles make up the Te Rā Awning range. Whether you choose the Viento style with its stylishly clean facia or the unique Eclipse style for maximum projection from the narrowest of awnings (perfect for tight sections and spaces), with Te Rā it’s never been easier to customise your coverage, stability and ease of use. (See the full range
here).

Easy Operation.
Finding the perfect blend in a sunny courtyard or on the deck is a cinch with Luxaflex Te Rā Folding Arm Awnings. Easy to operate - choose between a traditional crank control or motorisation. Motorisation is the game-changer here. Operate your awning with a touch of a button using either a hard-wired or remote control, you can even schedule them with Somfy® Connexoon. And for complete automation consider the convenience of incorporating sun and wind sensors. These are great to protect your awning (automatically retract when the wind gets too high) and keep your home cool by stopping the sun as soon as its out.

Unrestricted views and shade.
The robust retractable arms on a Te Rā Awning allow for maximum spans of seven metres in width and are capable of projecting up to four metres out from the building. This generous coverage requires no posts or other structures for support, maximising your freedom to enjoy the cover provided and the view.

Innovative extras.
With optional extras developed specifically for New Zealand available with selected Te Rā models, you don’t need to feel limited when it comes to your awnings adaptability. Some of these features are exclusive to Luxaflex, so if you want the best than Te Rā Awnings is the solution.

  • Roller Valance
Exclusive to Luxaflex, if you have an issue with privacy or low lying sun (particularly in winter), the optional roller valance is the solution for you. Featuring a 1m drop and semi-transparent fabric, you can keep out nosey neighbours without sacrificing your view. Bonus tip: you can still use your valance when your awning is retracted. Perfect when you want an extra little shade and privacy over your doors and windows.

  • Pitch Control
With pitch control, you can vary the pitch of your awning from -5˚ to -40˚. This is perfect to control the shade to your liking whether the sun is high or low.

  • Telescopic Poles
Exclusive to Luxaflex, telescopic poles can be used in windy conditions to stabilise the Te Rā front bar, increasing your awning’s wind resistance and extending its life. These collapsible poles sit comfortably out of the way against the front bar when not in use.

  • Rain Hood
If your awning is exposed to the elements (not located under an eave etc.) then why not protect it with the optional rain hood? The rain hood will provide improved fabric protection from the elements and extend the life of your awning’s fabric.
